SYNOPSIS

PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk. (Indocement) has a Research, Training, and Community Empowerment Center (P4M) located in Tajur Village, Citeureup District, Bogor Regency. On a 10-hectare land, P4M conducts research and training on livestock, fisheries, agriculture, and other areas. One of the research projects carried out by P4M is the cultivation of the stingless honey bee, Trigona Biroi. Trigona bees, or Tetragonula biroi, are stingless bees that do not rely on flower pollen to survive, unlike other types of honey bees.

Due to their unique way of life, Trigona bees can be bred anywhere and are relatively easy to manage. Additionally, Trigona bees are widespread throughout Indonesia, including urban areas, which have resin or sap sources from certain types of trees. Therefore, intensive cultivation of stingless honey bees needs to be developed by gathering information related to the science and techniques of cultivation.

The cultivation of stingless honey bees is expected to increase the economic value of the communities around the company, both as a primary and additional source of income.
