PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk. (“Indocement”) won an international award at the 2021 ASEAN Coal Awards. Indocement received this award after collected a paper on implementation and innovation in coal utilization at Indocement Tarjun Factory, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, and environmental management and social responsibility in a holistic manner across all Indocement operating units.

Indocement received an award in the Clean Coal Use and Technology Utilization for Industry Large Sub-Category category with the paper title Sustainable Use of Coal for Better Life by Reducing SO_x in Power Plant of Tarjun Factory. Currently, the Tarjun Plant Complex operates a power plant that has been equipped with a specific device, Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD), to reduce SO_x emissions released into the air, It device was set up in 2018.

ASEAN Coal Awards 2021 A Routine Award at ASEAN Level

The award was received during the 39^th ASEAN Minister on Energy Meeting (AMEM) meeting on September 16, 2021, which was held offline in Brunei Darussalam and was attended online by the nominee companies. The ASEAN Coal Awards is one of the routine activities every two years carried out by ASEAN through the ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE) as an ASEAN Regional commitment in promoting the use of environmentally friendly coal technology.
